Psychology students at the Faculty of Organizational Studies “Eduka” in Belgrade will have the opportunity to complete their professional internship at the “Duga” Rehabilitation Center for People with Addictions in Novi Sad.
By signing a cooperation agreement, the “Duga” Center has joined the network of organizations and institutions that enable “Eduka” students to connect the knowledge acquired during their studies with hands-on professional experience and explore different areas of psychological practice.
According to the Center’s founder, Dušan Beređi, around thirty people currently receive support at “Duga” while dealing with addiction-related problems, most commonly involving cocaine, alcohol and gambling. Users come from different parts of Serbia, as well as from countries across the region. The Center operates rehabilitation facilities in Novi Sad and Temerin.
“We will be pleased to welcome the students of ‘Eduka’ and share with them what the rehabilitation process looks like at our center,” said Beređi.
For future psychologists, this cooperation represents an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the complexity of addiction-related issues, the rehabilitation process and the different aspects of working with people undergoing recovery. At the same time, students will be able to see how psychological knowledge is applied in practice when working with people and within a professional institutional setting.
The cooperation with the “Duga” Center is part of the Faculty’s broader efforts to provide students with practical experience in different areas of psychological work. During the new academic year, Psychology students will have the opportunity to complete their professional internships at more than ten partner organizations and institutions – ranging from institutions responsible for the enforcement of criminal sanctions, healthcare and educational institutions, to companies, counseling centers and organizations providing various forms of psychosocial support.
In this way, professional internships become an important part of connecting academic knowledge with real-world professional environments and an opportunity for students to explore, while still studying, the diverse career paths available within the psychology profession.
